Established in 1878 and with a graduate and undergraduate student population of 55,000, the Universite de Montreal is the second largest French-speaking university in the world (although some courses are also taught in English). The university is made up of 13 faculties and 60 departments, and offers over 500 undergraduate and graduate programs.
The University du Quebec a Montreal is one of the city's French-language universities. Arts, Communications, Literary Studies, Languages, Political Science, Education and Humanities are some of the University's faculties. With a campus located in Montreal's vibrant Quartier Latin, there are a number of hang-out spots nearby where students can relax when not in class or studying.
